NYSEA caught up with humble freediver and NY surf photographer Justin Burkle after a trip to PR.
“I have been doing some traveling lately to escape the brutal winter here in Montauk. I went to mexico then northwest puerto rico where I linked up with some Montauk boys, jesse joeckel, jason hewitt, tyler maguire, tyler davis.
We had a good swell fill in fast and die out quick accompanied with a lot of wind. That northwest coast of PR always seems to have some swell swinging in from the active north atlantic. In-between swells I went out free diving in search of some Pelagics without much luck. All in all, I cant complain though it’s good to be in the water in nothing but trunks. I had a ton of laughs and some great happy hours with good friends. We are planning on a few little trips before I have to get back to work, preparing for the upcoming season here in Montauk, NY.” Justin Burkle
